Bell Bag from Animal Crossing

In this lesson we’ll be crocheting a full-sized bell bag from Animal Crossing! I like using this bell bag as a project bag to hold yarn and materials for projects! This pattern is very easy to make, and by using larger yarn you can even make it pillow-sized!

Finish with a slst. Cut the yarn and pull through leaving a long end to sew onto the bag.

02Bag

[All in Yellow]

Rnd 1: sc 8 into the magic loop (8)

Rnd 2: inc in each st (16)

Rnd 3: [sc 1, inc] repeat 8 times (24)

Rnd 4: [sc 2, inc] repeat 8 times (32)

Rnd 5: [sc 3, inc] repeat 8 times (40)

Rnd 33: sc in each st and around each ch space (60)

Rnds 34-40: sc in each st around (60 x 7)

Finish with a slst. Cut the yarn, pull through and hide the end.

Sew on the star onto the front of the Bag. Make sure it’s perfectly centered under two of the holes made in Rnd 32.

03I-Cord

[All in Red]
Ch 3

Row 1: Insert hook into 2nd ch from hook, yarn over and draw up a loop, insert hook into next ch, yarn over and draw up a second loop. There should be 3 loops on the hook.

Row 2: Drop 2 loops from the hook and hold them at the base with your thumb so they don’t come undone. Yarn over and draw up a loop through the remaining loop on the hook. Insert hook into the first dropped loop, yarn over and draw up a loop. Insert hook into the next dropped loop, yarn over and draw up a loop. There should be 3 loops on the hook.

Row 3-?: Repeat Row 2 until your i-chord reaches 5 x the height of your bag.
For me that was 30 inches (76 cm) because my bag, made in worsted weight cotton, measures 6 inches (15cm) tall. I worked to Row 98 to reach this length.

To end the i-cord, yarn over and draw yarn through all three loops on hook. Cut a short tail and weave in both ends of the i-cord.

04Assembly

Insert the i-cord into the hole (photo 1) from the front. Thread through the hole to the left (photo 2).
Continue threading through the holes in this manner.
Pull both ends of the drawstring to close the bell bag and tie it in a neat little bow!

  1. This was such an easy to follow pattern. The video tutorial was incredibly helpful for a beginner like me. It took 1 weekend and I love my giant Bell Bag!

  2. i making these for cristmas gifts! my sisters are obsessed with animal crossing so i thought this would be the perfect gift i hope they like it i will update you

  3. I am going to make a monimal like the one on stream but are you going to reales a pattern for it or is it your own special thing that only you have? and also i want to add a shell to the monimal so that it has more room in it for bawnimals.

  4. Heads up, in Rnd 2 for The Star you wrote ” [hdc 1, inc 1] repeat 9 times” but it should be [hdc inc 1] repeat 9 times. I kept getting really confused thinking i needed to make 3 hdc in one stitch, so i ended up pulling the video to see what i was doing wrong.
