01Baby Brontosaurus

[All in Color A] Ch 4

Rnd 1: Starting in the 2nd ch from the hook, sc into the next 2 chs, make 3 sc into the next st, turn 180º and work along the bottom of the ch, sc into the next ch, inc into the last ch and slst into the first st of the Rnd (8)

Note: The new Rnd starts after the slst. Work into the slst for the last st in Rnd 2

Rnd 2: [sc 1, inc 3] 2 times (14)

Rnd 3: sc in each st (14)

Rnd 4: sc 2, invdec 1, sc 2, invdec 1, sc 6 (12)

Rnd 5: sc 1, invdec 3, sc 5 (9)

Add eyes into Rnd 3, sts 2 and 9.

Rnd 6: invdec 3, sc 3 (6)

Rnd 7: sc in each (6) *Repeat for a longer neck!

Stuff head fully.

Rnd 8: sc 4, inc 1, [ch 3, skip the first ch, sc in next 2], inc 1 (10)

Rnd 9: inc 1, sc 2, inc 1, sc 2, [working into chs sc 3, working into the sc sts, sc 2], sc 2 (15)

Rnd 10: sc 10, inc 2, sc 3 (17)

Rnd 11: sc in each (17)

bo = Bobble Stitch (4dctog) (Video Tutorial)

*Try replacing your bobble stitches with a fin to make a Plesiosaur! See next section for details.

Rnd 12: sc 11, inc 2, sc 3, bo 1 (19)

Rnd 13: [sc 2, bo 1] 3 times, sc 4, inc 1, sc 4 (20 ending Rnd early)

Rnd 14: invdec 5 (15 stopping early)

Cut the yarn and pull through. To sew closed we'll start with the tail. Skip 10 sts, fold tail in half and seam together adjacent stitches up to the tip of the tail and then back down to pull through the last st made leaving 5 sts un-sewn.

Stuff fully, make sure to get stuffing to the tail. Finish sewing together the last 5 sts by weaving in and out of each of the FLO around, then pull tightly to pull together. Hide the end into the body to finish!

02Baby Plesiosaur Alternate

Replace your Bobble Stitches with a Fin to make your Brontosaurus into a Plesiosaur!

Fin = ch 5, pull tight, starting in the 3rd ch, sc 1, hdc 1, slst 1. Sc in the next st.

Work your next round around the fins and into the sc sts made so the fins are on the outside. This may make it slightly more difficult to do an invdec. Try an alternate decrease, such as the sc2tog, to make things easier.
