Overview

In this amigurumi crochet pattern we’ll be crocheting an Ankylosaurus! This mini dinosaur pattern uses variations of Bobble Stitches, and a unique stitch called the Bean Stitch, to create bumps and spikes along the back of this armored dino!

Side Spikes

Make 2

[All in Color B]

[Ch 3, pull ch tight, skip the first ch, sc2tog in the next 2 chs, ch 1], repeat 5 times total (5 spikes)

Cut the yarn and pull through. Sew these onto the sides of your Ankylosaurus after finishing the body.

How to crochet the Spiked Bobble (aka “sbo”) for the head spikes

Step 1:

Work 2 double crochet into one stitch, leaving the last loop of each on the hook.

With the loops still on the hook, work a mini picot (ch 2, sl.st into the 2nd ch from the hook)

Work 1 more double crochet into one stitch, leaving the last loop of each on the hook.

Step 4: Yarn over and draw through all the loops on the hook.

How to crochet the Bean Stitch for the bumps

(1:18:00) Sew on the Side Spikes up the sides of the dino starting at 1 st away from the bean stitch in Rnd 14 and going up the sides of the body ending 1 stitch down (towards the belly) from the sbo stitches from Rnd 5.
