The Pattern

01Grass

Probably the easiest addition to your rock is to add grass or moss using some light embroidery and needle felting!

To add grass patches, double knot a strand of green yarn to create an anchor. Then thread the ends on a darning needle, insert from the side of your rock and exit from where you’d like to add a small grass patch. Pull through the center of a stitch enough so it goes into the body, but the anchor keeps it held on the inside. Finish by cutting the ends of the yarn to your desired length. Repeat to add more grass.

You can also embroider on strands of grass using green yarn to create features like eyebrows (or unibrows) and facial features.
