The Pattern

01Head
[Starting in R (Red)]
Ch 2 or use magic loop method
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook or into magic loop (6)
Rnd 2: inc in each st (12)
Color Changes:
For color changes with Color/Color (ex: 1 Red/Blue), make the first pull through with the first color (Red), and next with the second color (Blue)
Rnd 3: [sc 1, inc] repeat 6 times (18)
[1 DBr/R, 3 R, 1 DBr/R, 13 R]
Rnd 4: sc in each st (18)
[2 DBr, 2 R, 2 DBr, 12 R]
Rnd 6: sc in each st (18)
[7 DBr, 11 R]
Rnd 7: sc in each st (18) [All DBr]
Rnd 8: sc in each st (18) [All B/DBr]
Rnd 9: sc in each st (18) [All B]
02Adding Face
Both eyes go in Rnd 7
The right eye goes in stitch 2, and the left goes in stitch 6.
03Adding Hair
Start with a long strand of Red yarn folded in half and thread the yarn on a needle.
Now, starting from the inside, carefully embroider on the yarn. I usually choose stitches that are directly next to each other to enter and exit the piece. This not only minimizes the yarn used, but it also makes it so you don’t have to keep reaching in and out of the piece.
Make the opposite entrances and exits for the yarn along where the part in the hair should be. For Ganon, I start from the color change from Rnd 3 to 4 and pull the yarn towards the back of the head. Cover the Red stitches on the top giving him a kind of greased back look, and double knot the two ends together on the inside.
Make sure to use some extra strands to go over the eyes (for eyebrows) and on the sides of the head (for sideburns).
04Forehead Medalion and Nose
Bullion Knot:
– Thread some yarn on a needle, insert it into a stitch from the inside.
– Wrap the needle around the yarn 3 times.
– Insert the needle into the piece in the next stitch above where you came out.
– Tighten the two ends to make a tighter knot and double knot the ends on the inside.
For the Forehead Medallion use Gold yarn and then embroider around the bullion knot using Light Grey yarn to create a kind of spiky border.
For the nose, use Dark Brown yarn and make sure the bullion knot is tight to make it slightly pointier. The nose goes between the eyes.
05Cape
Worked in the Flat (Turning after each Row)
[Starting in R]
Ch 13
Color changes in this Row are optional, you can also achieve a similar look by emboidering on Gold afterwards or leaving it all Red.
Row 1: Skip the first ch, sc into the next 12 chs (12)
[1 R, 1 G, 1 R, 1 G, 1 R, 2 G, 1 R, 1 G, 1 R, 1 G, 1 R]
Row 2: Turn, ch 1, skip the ch, working around the tail, sc into each st (12) [All R]
Row 3: Turn, ch 1, skip the ch, sc into each st (12) [All R]
Ch 1, cut the yarn leaving a long enough end to sew onto the back, and pull through.
Sew onto the back over the arms and around the back after making the Body.
06Collar
[All in Black]
Ch 13
Cut the yarn leaving a long enough end to sew onto the back, and pull through.
Sew onto the back over the arms and above the Cape.
07Body (Cont'd from Head)
Bobble Stitch:
1. Yarn over, insert hook into stitch
2. Yarn over and pull through
3. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops
4. Repeat steps 1 - 3 four times total
5. Yarn over and pull through all the
loops on the hook
For color changes in Bobble Stitches:
[Blue/Red/Green] = [Step 3/Step 1/Step 2]
Rnd 10: bo, sc 7, bo, sc 9 (18)
[1 B/T/DBr (bo), 1 B, 5 Br, 1 B, 1 B/T/DBr (bo), 1 B, 8 Br]
Rnd 11: sc in each st (18) [All Br]
Rnd 12: sc 2, bo, sc 4, bo, sc 10 (18) [2 Br, 1 Br/T/DBr (bo), 4 Br, 1 B/T/DBr (bo), 10 Br]
Sew on the Cape and Collar.
Add chest scarf using Tan yarn on the chest connecting the Cape, and add a belt using Black and Tan over legs.
08Finishing
Rnd 13: [sc, dec] repeat 6 times (12) [All Br]
For regular end:
Rnd 14: dec in each st (6) [All Br]
Cut the yarn, stuff, and sew closed.
Rnd 14: [sc 2, invdec] repeat 3 times (9)
Rnd 15-17: sc in each st (9 x 3)
Rnd 18: [sc, invdec] repeat 3 times (6)
Cut the yarn, stuff, and sew closed.
Now stuff it into the body. This may take a bit of tweaking to get all the way in.
